CEO of 3eWerks, Byron Loftin, is back for more helpful tips on going green at home or business. This week’s topic is on utilizing, or “flipping the switch” on power strips in order to conserve energy. Having a ton of items plugged into a power strip is better than overloading a socket and can be good for plugging in all your computer and printer objects, or even your entertainment center setup. However, we all know that using all of these things can take up a lot of energy.
Last week we talked about vampire power and how energy is still being used when something is plugged in, but not being used by us. Well in this case, it is a pain to try and unplug everything that your computer or entertainment setup is plugged into. That’s why using a power strip allows you to just flip the switch to turn off all the unnecessary electronics not being used at that time. See how much energy you could be saving just by flipping the switch by watching our latest video!

3eWerks Product of the Month: Hurricane Screens
October 6, 2010 by 3eWerks | Category: Blog, product of the monthTags: cut cost on energy bills, Hurricane, Hurricane screens, protect against vandalism, safety, solar energy, window protection | Comments (0)
Hurricanes are something we have to deal with here in South Texas every year. Since we are still in Hurricane season through November, what better product to talk about than Hurricane Screens? With the threat of a Hurricane approaching us, we all become panicked to protect our homes. Windows are the most in threat to break during a Hurricane, because of the high forced winds and flying debris. Tape has been proven repeatedly to not provide enough strength, durability, and definitely does not protect you from flying debris. Wood, on the other hand, offers more durability, but can rot and warp during storage. Plus, constantly putting them up every time a Hurricane approaches can become a pain. Why choose Hurricane Screens?
PROTECH Hurricane screens were tested and certified by Miami-Dade to withstand hurricanes and complies with the United States’ strictest building codes. Therefore, they are proven to withstand frozen chicken’s and 2×4′s flown at it from an air cannon at 175 miles per hour. These screens provide optimal safety for you and your home. Another reason to go this way is because it doesn’t just protect you from windborne debris, but it can also protects you from vandalism and solar rays.
According to PROTECH Screens, these screens are “manufactured with Patented Heavy Duty Aluminum Extruded Frames and Powder/Glass Coated 304 Stainless Steel Wire Mesh Inserts. Certified by multiple government agencies, our screens add value and security to your property by providing HURRICANE, SECURITY & SOLAR PROTECTION with one product like never before.” By having a product this tough, it deteriorates vandals from breaking into your home, and makes it quite impossible at that. Not only does it repel off vandals, but also the rising energy bills we face month to month because of the heat of the sun. These Hurricane Screens repel 50% of the suns rays and acts as a solar screen, therefore cutting the costs of energy bills. See an example by clicking on the file of how PROTECH Hurricane screens repel sunlight, ps – solar. Why not save some extra “green” by protecting your home? PROTECH Hurricane Screens are the way to go.
